The "quinces" party or the "quinceanera party" is a Latin custom that is similar to a "Coming Out" party. It signifies the Latin girl's transition from girlhood into young womanhood.
These parties can range anywhere from a very simple get together very elaborate, almost like a formal wedding. "Quinces" are usually complete with a "royal court" of 7 couples which will dance in honor of the Quinceanera.
